Research Summary

The division has been investigating the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes, especiallyin the Asian population, as well as the pharmacological and nutritional therapeutics for prevention and management of the disease and its complications.
Our research interests include secretion and action of the incretins, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), which enhance insulin secretion from the pancreas glucose-dependently to control glucose metabolism after meals. We also examine the clinical safety and efficacy of incretin-based therapies in the management of type 2 diabetes.
